Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja on Friday sacked the National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola. The court declared the election of former Governor of Osun State as the scribe of the party null and void.
Prince Oyinlola’s emergence as National Secretary was challenged in court by the fractional chairman of the Ogun state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr Dayo Adebayo on the ground that due process and the constitution of the PDP were not adhered to during the party’s National convention in 2012 in which Oyinlola and others were elected as national executives of the party. The court was told that two courts of competent jurisdiction had nullified the South West Zonal Congress congress in which Oyinlola was nominated.
Prince Oyinlola said the judgment would be appealed as it was a miscarriage of justice.
